AU Finance and Estates Projects and Development is to be divided into two administrative divisions

From the summer of 2021, AU Finance and Estates Projects and Development will be divided into two separate administrative divisions. The aim is to strengthen the management of two rapidly developing areas.

From 1 June 2021, AU Finance and Estates Projects and Development will be divided into two administrative divisions – AU Finance and AU Estates Projects and Development. This means that two new deputy directors will be appointed. The decision was made because Niels Jørgen Rasmussen, the current deputy director, is leaving for another job.

University Director Arnold Boon stresses that this is a strategic decision to strengthen AU.

"The two areas under AU Finance and Estates Projects and Development are both undergoing rapid development, and they are key to tasks and development projects with massive focus. Now that, regrettably, Niels Jørgen Rasmussen has decided to resign, we have a good opportunity to consider whether things could be done differently. The reorganisation makes it possible to ensure more targeted managerial prioritisation in both areas," says Arnold Boon.

Major tasks coming up in Finance include implementation of specified purpose accounts, further development of a procurement strategy, business intelligence and implementation of the climate strategy focusing on procurement, transport and travel. In Estates Projects and Development, a vision will be developed and implemented to ensure that the division can manage the ever more complex tasks of the future. This includes better use of land and buildings, Campus 2.0 and digitalisation, including Smart Buildings and the Internet of Things. Implementation of the climate strategy will also be a major task for Estates Projects and Development in the future.

The reorganisation will not imply any changes for all those collaborating with AU Finance and Estates Projects and Development, and benefitting from their services today. All employees in both divisions will continue in their current job functions and stay in the same buildings.

The proposal has been discussed in the LSU and the ASU, and the reorganisation will be financed within the current budget framework of AU Finance and Estates Projects and Development.

When Deputy Director Niels Jørgen Rasmussen resigns at the end of March, Arnold Boon will temporarily be responsible for the overall management of AU Finance and Estates Projects and Development until the new deputy directors have been appointed. It is expected that the deputy director for AU Finance will be appointed from 1 June, and that the deputy director for AU Estates Projects and Development will be appointed in late summer 2021.
