The latest figures show a remarkable 9% increase in international applications compared to last year, bringing the total to an all-time high. Since 2019, the number of international applicants has surged by an impressive 98%.

"This is a really positive development both for Aarhus University and for our society. At Aarhus University, we welcome international students from all over the world," says Berit Eika, Pro-rector of Aarhus University.

The university is committed to retaining more international graduates in Aarhus and Denmark by offering dedicated career services to support them in entering the Danish job market.

"The labor market continues to have a strong appetite for academically skilled workers, which is also part of the reasoning behind last year’s political decision to allow universities to offer more places in English-language Master’s programmes," Eika adds.

The increase in international applicants is not solely driven by non-EU countries. Interest from European students has also grown significantly, with applications from within the EU rising by 33% since 2019. The increases are particularly noticeable with Southern European countries: Applications from Portugal have surged by 182% between 2019 and 2025, while Spain and Italy have seen increases of 56% and 106%, respectively.

With its strong academic reputation and growing international appeal, Aarhus University continues to establish itself as a top choice for Master’s students from around the world.
