Aarhus University has a new head of press and communication

Aarhus University has appointed Sys Christina Vestergaard as the university’s new head of press and communication

Sys Christina Vestergaard is a familiar face at Aarhus University, where she has been acting head of press and communication since August.

She has been working with the university’s communication for 13 years, and, since 2009, she has been employed in the Rector’s office – first as a press adviser and later as team leader for the press and communication unit, before she was made acting head of press and communication in August 2019.

Sys Christina Vestergaard graduated from the University of Southern Denmark in 2002 with a degree in journalism. Immediately after graduating, she got a job as assistant to Professor Anker Brink Lund and later as a newspaper journalist, before she was first employed by Aarhus University in 2004.

Her time at Aarhus University has been interrupted by a few detours to other jobs. The first time was in 2008, where she worked as an editor at Datagraf. Most recently, she worked as a communication and press officer at the event space Værket in Randers in 2017.

Sys Christina Vestergaard is 48 years old and lives in Randers with her husband and their two daughters aged 10 and 13.
