A variety of IT services will be unavailable on 18 and 19 April 2015

AU’s IT systems and electrical installations are due for a check-up again. This is called a “service window”, and the next one will take place on the weekend of 18 and 19 April 2015. During this period, a variety of IT systems will be out of service on both days.

Service disruptions will affect the following IT systems:

Saturday 18 April:

On Saturday 18 April, administrative systems such as AU mail, calendar, websites (TYPO3), mit.au., and PURE will NOT be affected by service interruptions.

However, minor service interruptions can be expected between 8:00 and 12:00 noon. This applies in particular to Sharepoint, files on shared drives, IDM, STADS, printers, PURE, AULA, etc.

Blackboard, Citrix and financial management systems will be affected between midnight and Saturday afternoon.

Sunday 19 April:

On Sunday 19 April, all IT systems, networks (including wireless) and telephone service will be unavailable between 5:00 and 11:00, after which the systems will be brought online and tested as quickly as possible.

Additional IPU service interruptions may also occur. These will be announced locally.

If you are planning to work on 18 and 19 April, please remember:

If you are planning to work the weekend in question, we encourage you to copy all relevant content to your own pc so that you can work with it offline. Mails that are sent to you while the systems are offline will be queued and delivered as quickly as possible.

Approximately two weeks before this maintenance window, the affected IT systems will update users regarding the upcoming service interruption. A week before 18 April, all employees will receive an email reminder about the service interruption.

AU IT would like to apologise for any inconveniences the maintenance window might cause staff and students. The work is being carried out in order to improve the systems for the benefit of everyone. Unfortunately, we cannot avoid taking the systems out of operation in connection with the update and maintenance work. The weekend in question has been chosen on the basis of a comprehensive consultation among the academic and administrative environments so that it impacts as few people as possible.
