A new course on leadership for managerial staff at AU
A new course for AU managers will provide insight into fundamental leadership skills. The course is aimed at both new and more experienced, self-taught managers, both academic and administrative.
The new course is the first of its kind at Aarhus University and is designed for managers who want a more formalised introduction to the managerial role, theoretically and practically.
The new course will give participants an overview of key management tools, as well as an understanding of the organisational context in which AU managers perform their role. Specifically, the course will focus on different managerial tasks, such as personnel management, strategic management, administrative management and academic management.
The aim of the course is to help managers at AU perform their day-to-day work more effectively. The senior management team wishes to give leadership development higher priority, and hopes that both new and more experienced managers will consider whether the course might be relevant for them.
“Many managers at the university are self-taught. Including myself. You can develop leadership skills through your daily work as a manager– but you can also take a shortcut and update your knowledge by taking leadership courses such as this one. Good leadership is absolutely decisive for our employees and our organisation. So I encourage both new and experienced managers to sign up,” says Rector Bech Nielsen.
