3.5 mio. DKK grant from Lundbeckfonden & NIH BRAIN Initiative to Marco Capogna

Professor Marco Capogna has been awarded 3.5 mio. DKK from Lundbeckfonden & NIH BRAIN Initiative for a research project on the role of GABAergic neuron types of human cortex on synaptic plasticity.

A neuron of the human cortex reconstructed by the Allen Institute for Brain Science, Seattle.

Marco Capogna will receive the grant over a 4 year period for a project dedicated to discover the role of GABAergic neuron types of human cortex on synaptic plasticity. Optogenetic and electrophysiological methods applied to human cortical slice cultures in vitro will be performed. The project will be a collaboration with the lab of Jonathan Ting at the Allen Institute for Brain Science, Seattle, US (https://alleninstitute.org/what-we-do/brain-science/), who was awarded an NIH Brain initiative grant together with other researchers of this institute to define and classify the neuron types in the human cerebral cortex.
