1. What is the best thing about being a student at Aarhus University?

The best thing about being a student at Aarhus University is that this university is one of the Top 100 universities in the world.

2. What worries did you have before applying?

Admission in such a reputed university would be very competitive and it was a major concern for me.

3. What is the biggest difference between studying at Aarhus University and where you studied before (please include where you studied before)?

The biggest difference between Aarhus University and my previous universities like Gothenburg University in Sweden as well as Dhaka University in Bangladesh is the study environment in the libraries. Aarhus University is very unique even in comparison with the University of Gothenburg. First of all the library in Nobelparken can be accessed 24/7. Secondly, it has a lot of different study places including silent zone and computer room. Thirdly, it keeps hundreds of lockers which we, students can borrow for a semester.

4. What would you like to have known before applying?

Honestly speaking, I only knew its world ranking and nothing else.

5. Please give 3 good tips to keeping living costs down as a student in Denmark

Throughout my life, I struggled against financial hardship. Therefore, I know how to minimize costs. Three tips: 1. any student can take a non-furnished room as rent since most second hand furniture can be bought cheap. Alternatively, stores like IKEA often sell furniture at reduced prices, 2. Any student should learn how to cook food at home since this helps tremendously in keeping living costs low in Denmark and 3. Any student can prepare his/her coffee at library since it usually has kitchen, which is well-equipped with refrigerator, microwave and so on.

6. What is it like to study and live in Aarhus and in Denmark?

It is almost like home since people are very friendly and cooperative. Only one thing any foreign student may face is the Danish language. However, since learning Danish is free of charge. Any students can take classes.

7. What are your plans after you graduate?

After my graduation, my plan is to apply to a PhD programme anywhere. Since I am Assistant Professor at a university in Bangladesh, I would like to pursue more studies.
