1. What is the best thing about being a student at Aarhus University?

Being a student at Aarhus University is amazing. There are many international students and I’ve never felt alone. The university organizes a lot of events to help you feel comfortable and informs you about how things work in Denmark. I received a lot of support and guidance. The courses are well structured and challenging. The education system here is one of the best in Europe and I can admit that I’ve learned a lot so far. Plus, Aarhus BSS campus has the best canteen :)

2. What worries did you have before applying?

I was a bit uncertain how I can manage to live in a country where people speak Danish, a language that I am not familiar with. After few days of living here, I realized that almost everyone speaks English so I didn’t have to worry anymore.

3. What is the biggest difference between studying at Aarhus University and where you studied before (please include where you studied before)?

I graduated for Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in Greece. I can see that the biggest difference between my previous university and Aarhus BSS is that the classrooms, auditoriums and the facilities in general are much better at Aarhus BSS.

4. What would you like to have known before applying?

Since the website of Aarhus University is well maintained and provides all the information a potential student needs, I knew everything that I needed before applying.

5. Please give 3 good tips to keeping living costs down as a student in Denmark

If you want to keep your living costs down you have to cook on a daily basis, if you don’t know how I suggest you learn. Also, if you want to have fun and drink I suggest checking out the Friday bars at the university campus. They are cheap and full of students. Clubbing in the city center can be quite expensive. Finally, buy a bike; it will save you a lot of money on transportation.

6. What is it like to study and live in Aarhus and in Denmark?

As a student in Aarhus I got the chance to meet people from all over the world and create strong friendships. The environment at the University is ideal to make you feel comfortable and motivated. Aarhus is a lovely city to live in, I love it. I can also take part in many student events, go out for a coffee or beer in the city. The city is easy to investigate since it is small in size, but full of activities and things to do, so I don’t get bored.

7. What are your plans after you graduate?

I am already searching for a job in Aarhus so that I can prolong my stay in Denmark. So, after I graduate, my plan is to stay here since I already feel like it is home.
