Building resilient leadership: Emotional intelligence in organizations

The present social and economic context has impacted the functioning and adaptability of working professionals. The cases of mental disorders, suicides, break-ups, divorces, anxiety, fears, sleeplessness are raising questions about the psychological well-being of working executives and their ability to cope with work or non-work-related stress. Future-ready organizations need to employ a workforce with rich psychological resources in the form of hope, self-efficacy, optimism, resilience, spirituality, adaptability, and ability to manage stress positively. Such competencies are not only essential at the workplace but also at home.

Psychological and management literature shows the relevance of the concept of Emotional Intelligence (EI) in the process of coping with the environmental demands and pressure. The proponents of EI say that the ability to handle stresses of modern workplace may be more important than intellectual competency of employees. Therefore, this course is designed to help the students to become emotionally intelligent leaders to drive the process of personal and organizational transformation which cannot be possible with the management of emotional and living life with equanimity.

After attending this course, students can be hired as a “corporate trainer and consultant” to build a resilient organization that should be able to quickly respond to environmental demands and pressures. As it is evident from literature that high EI individuals lead to the development of emotionally intelligent teams and organizations. To achieve these aims, the course will cover the topics which are relevant for future ready managers, for example,

  • Managing power and politics,
  • Developing social capital,
  • Improving one’s psychological wellbeing,
  • Leading teams for higher performance,
  • Using win-win conflict management style, and
  • Leading change management etc.

To apply for the course, you must have passed a Bachelor's degree in Business Economics, Business Administration, or an equivalent degree.
