Accounting and Auditing Data Analytics

With the advent of new technologies and innovations, large amounts of data is being harnessed for purposes of accounting and auditing. Its impact in accounting and auditing has also become prominent because of the regulatory push in that direction, and Big 4 accounting firms’ acceptance of these technologies. In response to the market needs of the audit industry, International Auditing and Assurance Standards Board (IAASB), set up Data Analytics Working Group (DAWG) to explore usage of data analytics, to enhance audit quality; and explore how the IAASB most effectively can respond to these emerging developments via new or revised International Standards on Auditing or non-authoritative guidance.
