Postdoc in Life Cycle Assessment and Bio-economy (ID 667759)

Aarhus University Foulum, Science and Technology, Department of Agroecology, offers a 3 year position as postdoc with a focus on integrated assessment of novel biomass technologies, starting as soon as possible. 

Area of work
The research must address the integrated assessment through application of Life cycle assessment (LCA) methodology and its possible extensions through economic valuation of end-points. A significant part of the work will be carried out in relation to a recently initiated project that will assess environmental and socio-economic consequences of increasing biomass production with a view to bio-refining. This includes conceptual development of LCA to enable accounting for some burdens being local whereas others are regional or global, hotspot analysis of specified cases and economic valuation of the associated impacts underpinned by LCA derived indicators. 

The position will be part of the research group Agricultural Systems and Sustainability, based at Research Center Foulum, with an interdisciplinary research profile - in this case co-operation is foreseen with Dept. of Environmental Science. 

• Successful completion of university studies attested by a degree relevant to the field concerned (eg in natural or applied sciences)
• A PhD degree (or equivalent documented qualifications) relating to integrated assessment, LCA methodologies or any related field
• Profound theoretical understanding and actual experience with LCA
• Demonstrated interest and experience relating to bio-based technologies will an advantage
• Understanding of key principles of environmental economics will be an advantage
• Proven record of designing and writing scientific publications
• Collaborative skills

Science and Technology refers to the Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Danish Universities under the Danish Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation.
